'May have to': Joe Biden's son Hunter hints at running for president in 2028

Former US President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, has hinted at the possibility of running for president in 2028, citing his dedication to upholding the rule of law as his primary qualification. During an interview with radio host John Catsimatidis, Hunter suggested that he might consider a presidential bid if he receives Catsimatidis' endorsement.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to the US Constitution and the rule of law, stating that he believes this should be the next president's top priority. Despite the possibility, Hunter did not commit to a run, noting that Democrats have a strong field of candidates to choose from. The interview came after a playful introduction of Hunter as a "Presidential candidate" by California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Hunter's potential run would mark his first entry into the country's political leadership after his time in the US Navy ended in 2014 following a positive cocaine test. The Delaware-born artist has faced political controversy in the past, including allegations that he used his father's position as vice president to benefit his family, and explicit photos and material from his laptop were cited in his federal gun and tax cases.

In December 2024, President Joe Biden issued a full and unconditional pardon to his son, absolving him of all offenses committed between 2014 and 2024.
