Maryland rushes for 6 touchdowns, gains 646 yards of offense in a 62-0 win over Hampton

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland's rushing attack dominated Hampton in a 62-0 victory, as DeJuan Williams rushed for a 94-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Williams and Iverson Howard each scored twice, while Harry Dalton III and Jianni Davis each added a touchdown. Malik Washington and Cardell Williams contributed with a touchdown each via the air.

Maryland outgained Hampton by a staggering 646 yards to 85, marking their first ever win against a Power Four team. Williams' opening run was the second-longest in Maryland history, surpassed only by Steve Atkins' 98-yard touchdown against Clemson in 1978. Williams also added an 8-yard TD run and finished with 116 yards on just three carries.

Howard's touchdown runs were both 11 and 8 yards, one before halftime the other in the second half. Dalton contributed with a 9-yard touchdown run, and Davis finished the scoring with an 8-yard touchdown run. Washington started slowly but connected with Na eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding for a 10-yard touchdown to make the halftime score 34-0.

Washington then threw a 16-yard scoring pass to Jordan Scott, extending the lead to 45-0. Maryland's defense was equally impressive, recording five sacks and three interceptions. The Terrapins' pass rush should prove valuable as they look to improve on last season's 4-8 record. Hampton, meanwhile, hosts Bryant next Saturday and travels to face UConn on Saturday.
