‘Marked dead’: Residents flag deletions, missing names from Delhi SIR draft rolls

Residents in Mangolpuri’s Block Y have raised concerns about missing names and deletions from Delhi’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) draft rolls. At a Jan Sunwai organized by various groups, Kanta Prasad (36) explained that his name was struck off the list due to being marked as "Dead" with no enumeration form collected. His father, Mukund Prasad, was incorrectly listed as "Komal Prasad."

Similarly, Neelam (45) claimed her name was absent despite residing at her registered address and voting in the 2025 Delhi elections. Rihanna (32) reported that her enumeration form was never delivered, and she was still marked as "Absent." The Jan Sarokar, MKSS, National Federation of Indian Women, and Voter Adhikar Manch Delhi groups organized the event to audit the SIR process.

MKSS co-founder Nikhil Dey criticized the SIR as "heavily exclusionary" and "anti-people," citing an August 2003 Election Commission order that mandates public verification of electoral rolls. The groups found 37 households where residents were marked "Shifted" or "Untraceable/Absent," with women often appearing as "Permanently Shifted," while their male relatives remained on the rolls.
