Lebanon president calls for US help as Israeli strikes continue

Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon have claimed at least seven lives, damaging state buildings and an inactive hospital, despite a truce framework. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called for US intervention and international action to halt the Israeli strikes, which targeted Hezbollah operatives and sites following a drone attack by Iran-backed Hezbollah on Israeli troops near a strategic ridge.

Israel, which considers the Nabatieh-area Ali al-Taher ridge part of its self-declared security zone, reported no casualties but accused Hezbollah of a blatant violation. Aoun condemned the strikes as a dangerous escalation, damaging Lebanese state institutions and health facilities. Despite the truce, violence has persisted, with Lebanon drawn into the broader Middle East conflict following Hezbollah's support for Iran in March. Israeli forces maintain a self-declared security zone along the Lebanon border.
