Koretskyi discusses Ukraine's financial needs with advisors to European leaders

Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko held a meeting with advisors to European leaders to discuss the country's financial requirements, according to Ukrinform. The gathering also included Economy Minister Oleksandr Kravchenko, diplomats, and heads of diplomatic missions.

The Ukrainian delegation informed their partners about the ramifications of Russia's aggression on businesses and civilian infrastructure, as well as the government's main priorities and difficulties in the economic and social sectors ahead of winter. The meeting emphasized Ukraine's dedication to progressing its European integration reforms to expedite decisive actions and secure macro-financial assistance.

The escalating cost of the war is a significant concern, with Russia ramping up the production and launch of drones and missiles. Ukraine must respond accordingly by acquiring additional resources. Marchenko expressed confidence in the joint decisions needed to secure the necessary financing.

Ukrainian Prime Minister thanked the partners for their support, recognizing their efforts to enhance the nation's resilience. Both parties shared a vision of the upcoming steps. The key takeaway from the meeting was the understanding that Ukraine and Ukrainians are not alone in their struggle against the enemy.

Earlier, Finance Minister Marchenko stated in an interview with Euronews that Ukraine's annual external financing requirement remains around $50 billion. If the conflict persists, the preliminary unfunded need for 2027 is estimated at $32.6 billion. On September 1, Marchenko announced in an address to the Verkhovna Rada that the government would implement a strict budget spending cut regime for funds not allocated to defense needs.
