Key Suspect Arrested as Two Missing Minors Rescued in Kisauni

Detectives in Kisauni Sub-County have apprehended a principal suspect in connection with the alleged abduction of two young girls who went missing on August 27, 2026. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced on Sunday that the girls were safely rescued following inquiries into their disappearance. According to the DCI, the investigation revealed that Caleb Okumu Ngwena, along with an unknown accomplice, abducted the two children on August 25, 2026, in Sensera, Kiembeni.

The suspects allegedly coerced the minors to sever ties with their families before relocating them to Kiambu County. The girls were reportedly held captive in a vacant room for several days. The DCI stated that the primary suspect is also accused of sexually assaulting one of the minors. The two girls were eventually released, but the suspects allegedly threatened to murder them if they disclosed the incident.

Upon their rescue, detectives initiated further investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify any additional parties involved. The arrested suspect is set to be formally charged on Monday, September 7, 2026, with charges including defilement, kidnapping, and child trafficking. The DCI emphasized that the investigation is ongoing as they work to locate and apprehend the second suspect, who remains at large.

The agency affirmed its commitment to pursuing individuals suspected of involvement in crimes against children, stating that such crimes are heinous offenses that rob children of their innocence, safety, and future. Anyone participating in the trafficking, exploitation, or abuse of children, or facilitating such crimes, will be relentlessly pursued and held accountable.
