Karnataka FDA seizes drugs worth ₹4 lakh from illegal storage

Karnataka authorities seized ₹4,02,352 worth of unlicensed medicines from two Amazon storage facilities during raids, according to the Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration. The seizures occurred at facilities in Thattanahalli, Anekal taluk and Aerospace, Devanahalli. Additionally, an inspection at Bengaluru's Hockey Club revealed 40 bottles of expired soft drinks, improper labeling, unhygienic conditions, and pest infestations in food preparation areas.

Both the drug seizures and the club's food inspection were based on intelligence relating to significant compliance breaches, with officials describing the raids as a "swift and coordinated crackdown on illegal storage and distribution of pharmaceuticals." Amazon has not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter. The Food Safety Division has issued a notice to the club's food business operator, initiating legal action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and related regulations.

Continuous inspections of food establishments will be conducted to enforce safety and quality standards.
