Johannesburg EMS warns motorists to be cautious amid heavy rain

Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) has urged motorists to drive with caution due to wet and slippery roads caused by heavy rain. Low-lying residents, including those in informal settlements, are advised to avoid crossing flooded river streams. The South African Weather Service has issued an Orange Level Five warning for severe thunderstorms in Gauteng, which could lead to strong winds, hail, and road and settlement flooding.

EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi confirmed that their teams are prepared to handle any emergencies. Mulaudzi stated, "From our side, as the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, together with our disaster monitoring teams, our specialized team which responds to water-related emergencies, which is our water rescue unit, we remain on high alert."
