India, China To Hold First Corps Commander-Level Talks In Arunachal Pradesh Amid LAC Tensions

New Delhi, September 6 - Indian and Chinese armies are set to hold their first Corps Commander-level talks in Arunachal Pradesh, amid ongoing tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The meeting, scheduled for September 6, will take place at the Wacha-Damai border meeting point in the eastern sector. Indian Army's 3 Corps Commander, Lt Gen Girish Kalia, will represent India at the talks.

India maintains a firm stance in dealing with Chinese troops' positions in the disputed area, according to sources. The two countries have differing perceptions of the LAC, leading to issues on the ground. The Corps Commander-level meetings between the Indian and Chinese armies have been held previously at the Chusul-Moldo border meeting point in Ladakh sector after the Galwan clashes in 2020.

The meetings aim to address ongoing issues in the area and follow the visit of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to China, which led to the announcement of several measures to maintain peace and tranquility along the LAC. Recently, Army Chief Gen Dhiraj Seth visited the 3 Corps headquarters to brief the formation commanders on operational readiness and steps taken to enhance combat capability.
