HypeBESTIE: My Free Sincere Compliment Engine

This is a story about HypeBESTIE, a free image compliment generator created by Mike Cramblett. The generator is powered by Google Gemini 3.8 and aims to spread goodwill on social media platforms that often encourage stinginess with praise and toxicity. Users can upload a photo of themselves or a friend, and HypeBESTIE analyzes the visual specifics, from micro-smiles to casual jacket layering with shirts.

It then generates a customized, unconditional compliment with a "Hype Receipt" that includes aesthetic archetypes, sci-fi diagnostic specs, and sincere validation. The app also features a "Compliment a Friend" mode, allowing users to generate a personalized tribute for a friend and share it instantly via social media or email. HypeBESTIE was built using TypeScript + React frontend and Express + @google/genai backend, with the multimodal vision and schema outputs enforced to create the retro thermal receipt format.

The code was written in Google AI Studio and included a persona system prompt that incorporated elements to minimize boring responses, gamify human-ness and creativity, and incorporate philosophical notions about love.
