IDF Colonel Oren Zini has cautioned against prematurely withdrawing Israeli forces from Gaza and Lebanon, stating that doing so would be premature and endanger the country's security. In an interview with 103FM, Zini praised the security forces and Shin Bet for their exceptional operational and intelligence capabilities, highlighting successful targeted eliminations and successful operations in both the south and north.

He emphasized that current policy permits troops to operate in previously inaccessible areas. Zini stressed that tactical achievements alone are insufficient if Israel relinquishes control over the areas where forces are currently operating, as the enemy could regroup and pose a threat. He drew a parallel to the 2000 withdrawal from southern Lebanon, which he called "one big retreat" and lamented the heavy price Israel paid.

Zini warned that future agreements in Gaza and Lebanon may restrict Israel's freedom of action and force premature withdrawals, leading to a loss of control over the situation and potentially repeating past mistakes, as seen on the northern border ahead of the October 7 attacks.
