How Malaysian Feisk Productions keeps making films despite modest returns

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 — Despite modest returns, Malaysian film company Feisk Productions persists in producing films. Founded by brothers Iskandar and Feisal Azizuddin in 2010, the company started with an independent approach. Iskandar told Malay Mail, "We have taken a very independent and resourceful approach to filmmaking, finding ways to create and produce projects with the resources available to us while continuing to develop our craft and tell the stories we want to tell."

The company explores unique and bold themes and genres that are often missing in Malaysian cinema. "We explore themes and genres that are uncommon because there is a lack of these kinds of stories in Malaysia, or stories of this nature being told by Malaysians generally," said Iskandar. Over the past 16 years, Feisk Productions has produced reality shows, a TV series, a documentary, over 40 short films, and nine feature films.

Their latest release, Tikus!, is a murder mystery with a Malaysian twist, inspired by Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap. Despite modest returns, Feisk Productions continues producing films due to their passion for storytelling and commitment to diversity in Malaysian cinema.
