Govt Clears Nearly 12,000 Pending Solar Cases

The Pakistani federal government has resolved 11,695 pending net-metering applications across the country, according to special directives from Federal Minister for Power Division Awais Leghari. These applications were part of a batch of 16,654 cases that remained unresolved during the shift from the previous net-metering system to the current net billing system, as reported by the Power Division.

PITC is reaching out to the 11,695 applicants through text messages, WhatsApp, and other digital platforms to keep them informed about the progress of their cases. Consumers can also check the status of their applications through the official online portal. The government has cautioned applicants against paying anyone for expedited processing, emphasizing that this communication initiative is to safeguard consumers from unscrupulous agents and unnecessary third-party involvement.

Verification of the remaining 4,959 applications is ongoing according to the established procedures. The objective of this initiative is to safeguard legitimate consumers while preventing illegal connections to the power grid. Leghari has instructed officials to expedite the remaining verification process and ensure that applicants receive clear updates regarding their cases.

The Power Division reiterated the government's commitment to advancing solar and renewable energy while upholding a transparent and sustainable system.
