This summer in Ceuta, an extraordinary event unfolded as nearly 80,000 individuals entered the autonomous city irregularly. Months later, thousands of them still endure precarious conditions on Ceuta's streets and beaches, while the presence of Morocco, which claims the territory as its own, threatens tranquility and coexistence in this Spanish jurisdiction.

However, this incident is far from an anomaly in today's international context. The European Union has grown accustomed to enduring increasing pressures from other nations and witnessing their sovereignty challenged. Through coercion, threats, or even armed attacks, these countries - some perceived as allies, others as friends, and others as declared enemies - aim to undermine a fundamental aspect of the international order: borders, and ultimately disrupt the functioning of our democracies.
