Four ganja peddlers who attacked police arrested

Police in the Krishna and East Godavari districts have apprehended a gang of four ganja peddlers accused of assaulting officers. The Kankipadu police detained A. Avinad, who allegedly assaulted constable D. Srinu after being intercepted near Manikonda village. Avinad sustained gunshot injuries to both legs when the police responded with gunfire; he was hospitalized and subsequently appeared in court, as reported by Gudivada Deputy Superintendent of Police P. Srinivas.

The Devarapalli police in East Godavari district arrested the remaining members of the gang—Charan, Prabhu, and Chinna—after they attacked officers during a vehicle inspection within the district's jurisdiction. Armed Reserve Police Constable V. Venkateswara Rao, who was injured in the altercation, is receiving medical treatment at a local hospital, according to Mr. Ashok Kumar, the Eluru Range IGP. Both incidents are currently under investigation, the IGP confirmed.
