Flock Offered Webinar Teaching Cops How to Surveil 'No Kings' Protesters

On Thursday, 404 Media disclosed that Flock had provided a webinar instructing America's police officers on how to monitor the "No Kings" protests against President Trump. The webinar illustrated the use of Flock's technology alongside law enforcement's databases for surveillance. Caity Peak, Flock's director of market management, explained during the presentation how real-time crime centers, which incorporate Flock's cameras and other surveillance tools, could be utilized for emergency response but also for watching events like Independence Day fireworks, parades, bike races, Mardi Gras, and protests.

Peak emphasized that police could use FlockOS, a combined software platform for various surveillance methods, to monitor multiple types of data during both emergencies and routine events. The dashboard demonstrated a range of surveillance tools, including traffic information, response plans, building floor plans, and video feeds from outdoor and indoor cameras.

Reports from 404 Media and the Electronic Frontier Foundation revealed that police had specifically employed Flock cameras to monitor the "No Kings" protests and other First Amendment-protected activities. The webinar highlighted that the claim of Flock's ALPR cameras being non-invasive and primarily utilized for solving major crimes was misleading, as Flock consistently marketed itself as a comprehensive system for crime-solving and real-time surveillance.
