Delhi building collapse: Guilty will not be spared, says Delhi CM; orders magisterial probe

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has ordered a magisterial probe into the tragic collapse of a building in Satya Niketan, which resulted in the deaths of five Delhi University students and injuries to several others. Addressing the scene on Sunday evening, Ms. Gupta emphasized that those responsible for the collapse would face severe consequences, regardless of whether they were the building's owner or a government official.

She stressed that the primary focus should be on saving the lives of the trapped children and vowed that no agency would be shortchanged in rescue efforts. Opposition leaders, including Opposition Leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Abhijeet Dipke, and AAP chief Saurabh Bharadwaj, called for accountability and a thorough examination of the student housing crisis in the capital, highlighting inadequate facilities and the vulnerability of low-income students.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal blamed government negligence for the incident, while BJP leader Arun Jaitley expressed condolences and assured that the government was taking the incident seriously.
