Defence Minister Rajnath Singh To Visit Colombo, Push India-Sri Lanka Defence And Maritime Cooperation

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka, aiming to bolster bilateral defence and maritime cooperation between India and the South Asian nation, according to the Ministry of Defence. The visit will span from September 8 to 10, during which Singh will engage in consultations with Sri Lankan authorities on various matters and engage with the Indian diaspora residing in Colombo.

Accompanying Singh will be a high-ranking delegation consisting of senior officials from India's Defence and External Affairs Ministries. The Ministry of Defence emphasized that the visit aims to further enhance the already strong and amicable relations between India and Sri Lanka, particularly in the realms of defence and maritime security.

Both countries share deep-rooted civilizational ties and a multifaceted partnership, with regional security, defence collaboration, economic and trade relations, and robust people-to-people connections forming the cornerstone of their relationship.
