CPI(M) area committee member Anas Ali accuses G. Sudhakaran of wilfully targeting him

M.M. Anas Ali, a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) area committee in Alappuzha, has accused G. Sudhakaran, a dissident turned Independent MLA, of deliberately targeting him to damage his reputation. The CPI(M) leader demanded that Sudhakaran retract his allegations linking Ali to drug rackets and threatened to sue him for defamation if the MLA did not withdraw his comments.

Ali had a close relationship with Sudhakaran for a long time, even sharing the responsibility of holding the 'Thaali' during Ali's wedding. The allegations against Ali came suddenly after he was appointed to coordinate the Assembly election campaign in the Ambalappuzha constituency, a time when Sudhakaran held significant control over the party in the district.

Ali's family members have stopped going outside their house, with his wife staying home for work and his child not attending school as the allegations have adversely affected them. Ali warned Sudhakaran that he would have to reveal certain information if he continued to target him, including a fake social media post allegedly sent by Sudhakaran regarding a woman politician and an alleged attempt to suppress a suicide case involving a girl in Thottappally. Ali has sent a notice to Sudhakaran seeking one rupee in damages as a symbol of his integrity.
