Cartagena to host 10th edition of major charity regatta this September

This September, the vibrant coastal city of Cartagena, Spain, will host its 10th annual Camino de la Cruz-Punta Este Trophy Regatta, a prestigious maritime event that draws over 400 sailors competing across fifty boats. The regatta, renowned as one of the most outstanding nautical races in the Mediterranean, will commence on Saturday, September 12, and is expected to attract an additional 400 to 500 sailors, with two starting points in Cartagena and Torrevieja.

Beyond being a thrilling sporting spectacle, the regatta plays a crucial role in fostering regional tourism and solidarity between the Spanish provinces of Murcia and Alicante. The two host cities will converge on the same race routes, encouraging visitors from both areas to explore and experience the cultural richness of the other.

The highlight of the event, following the race, will be an awards ceremony commencing at 9:00pm at Trips Summer Club, where proceeds will be donated to the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Caravaca de la Cruz. This generous contribution supports the organization's mission to achieve a cancer survival rate exceeding 70 percent by 2030, through research, resources, and early diagnosis for Spanish patients.
