Caleb Amisi: Truck driver detained, vehicle seized in Embu over planned political publicity

Caleb Amisi, a Member of Parliament from the Saboti constituency, has reported that a truck belonging to the People’s Renaissance Movement (PM) Party was seized in Embu after its driver was arrested. The incident took place on September 6, 2026, and the driver was held in detention for several hours before being released at around 5 am.

Amisi alleged that the truck, intended for the party’s publicity activities, was taken away after its driver was moved around in unmarked vehicles within Embu. The driver's release occurred too late for the truck to be utilized for the planned political mobilisation activities in Tharaka Nithi, which were scheduled for the previous day, September 5, 2026.

Amisi took to his official X account to share details of the event, accusing unnamed individuals of using state power to hinder political opponents. He warned that such misuse of power would eventually come to an end, stating that it would not last beyond 2027. The PM Party, which is gearing up for the 2027 General Elections, has been intensifying its grassroots mobilisation efforts.

The party announced its first-ever rally in Tharaka Nithi as part of a broader initiative to directly convey its political message to voters. Amisi mentioned that the party's mobilisation tour included stops at various locations, such as Kairuni PCEA Church, Chogoria, Marima, Ndagani, and Chuka, highlighting the party's strategy of establishing political structures across the country ahead of the election.

This incident has added a new dimension to the PM Party's ongoing mobilisation campaign, as they continue to prepare for the upcoming elections.
