Buyer Spends RM5,600 On RTX 5080 On Amazon, Gets Vacuum Mug Instead

An unfortunate Amazon customer, identified as Redditor u/BransonArsen, fell victim to a scam after ordering an MSI GeForce RTX 5080 Suprim Liquid SOC from a third-party seller on Amazon. The card, which cost around US$1,400 (~RM5,662), was meant to be delivered but instead, the buyer received a small, oddly-shaped box. Upon opening it, they discovered a vacuum mug and a pamphlet inside.

The seller claimed the mug was a "gift" to accompany the RTX 5080, which was supposed to arrive at a later date. However, the buyer soon realized that this was a fraudulent scheme. The pamphlet contained a suspicious email address, Support@AmazonService.xyz, which was not an official Amazon domain. The Redditor suspected that the scammers intended to keep the customer communicating through the fake address, hoping the victim would become frustrated and give up on returning the item. The Redditor successfully contacted Amazon and requested a full refund for the $1,400 vacuum mug.
