Bundesliga: Bayern fail to score first time in 59 matches

Bayern Munich's impressive streak of scoring in 59 consecutive competitive matches came to an end as they were held to a goalless draw by newly promoted Schalke in Gelsenkirchen. Luis Diaz was the closest to breaking the deadlock, missing two excellent chances either side of halftime. Bayern manager Vincent Kompany rotated his lineup following a strong start to the season, with Harry Kane and Michael Olise starting on the bench.

Despite their dominance in possession, Bayern struggled to create clear-cut chances. Kane was brought on at halftime, and Jamal Musiala entered with 35 minutes left as Bayern sought to increase pressure. Musiala, who had suffered seizures during pre-season matches, helped Bayern become more threatening in the final stages. Schalke's disciplined defense held firm, securing a valuable point and their first of the season.

This draw also ended Bayern's run of finishing a Bundesliga matchday at the top of the table for the first time in 67 matchdays. For Kane, it was another disappointing afternoon in his quest for 100 Bundesliga goals, leaving him two short of the milestone. Bayern will now focus on the Champions League, facing Bodø/Glimt on Thursday before traveling to Bundesliga newcomers Elversberg on September 13.
