BJP’s padayatra fails to gain public support, politically motivated: Yatindra Siddaramaiah

Minister for Urban Development Yathindra Siddaramaiah has harshly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) padayatra, stating that it has utterly failed to garner public support. Addressing reporters in Raichur on Sunday, Siddaramaiah alleged that the BJP is solely pursuing its political objectives, disregarding the primary demand of B. Nagendra's resignation from his ministerial post.

He claimed that instead of addressing pressing public issues like drought and farmer grievances during the Legislative Assembly session, BJP leaders chose to focus on their political agenda, wasting valuable time. Siddaramaiah further emphasized that the Opposition demonstrated no genuine concern or clarity regarding public issues, dry spells, or agricultural distress, solely aiming to score political points during the Assembly session.

He urged the Union government to extend assistance to farmers who have suffered crop losses due to prolonged dry spells, stating that the State will also take its own initiatives in this regard. Recalling past incidents, Siddaramaiah pointed out that the Union government has shown discrimination against the State's farmers regarding compensation releases, adding that funds were only released after the Supreme Court intervened in a previous occasion.
