Back-to-back wins give Smokies momentum entering home finale, playoffs

Knoxville Smokies entered the weekend at Covenant Health Park with the intention of overcoming a recent poor home performance. They achieved this goal with consecutive victories over Chattanooga Lookouts on September 4th and 5th. On September 4th, Smokies outfielder Alex Ramirez delivered a solo home run in the first inning. The Lookouts scored a run in the second inning, and both teams exchanged runs throughout the middle of the game.

The Smokies took the lead 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning and held onto it for an 8-3 win. On September 5th, Ramirez began the scoring again with a two-run double in the fourth inning. The score remained 2-0 until the eighth inning when left fielder Carter Trice added an RBI double and stole third base, scoring on a Chattanooga throwing error to seal a 4-0 Smokies victory.

Currently, the Smokies lead the Southern League North standings with a 3-2 series advantage after winning the first two games. They have one regular-season game remaining at Covenant Health Park on September 6th at 2 p.m. The first 500 children to enter the park that day will receive a complimentary squeezable cube. The Smokies have already secured a playoff berth by clinching the first-half title and are leading the Southern League North.
