Assala Nasri to perform in Damascus after 15-year absence

Syrian singer Assala Nasri is set to perform at the Al-Fayhaa Sports Hall in Damascus on September 17, her first concert in the country in 15 years. The announcement has sparked enthusiasm among artistic and cultural circles in Syria. Nasri took to social media to share her excitement about returning to her hometown, expressing her longing for the city's atmosphere and her friends.

She wrote, "My beloved friends and family in Damascus, we will meet again, and in Damascus I will relive with you the years I have missed." Nasri added, "I will return with you to the beginning, we will walk through every neighborhood, celebrate, and sing about ourselves and togetherness... Truly, as much as you miss me, I miss you."

Syrian Minister of Culture Mohammed Yassin Saleh endorsed Nasri's concert on his X account, declaring Syria's welcome to returning artists and their creative contributions. He called Nasri "a sister among men" and emphasized Syria's commitment to welcoming its citizens to showcase their talents in their homeland and the Arab home.

The minister highlighted Nasri's unwavering support for the Syrian revolution and her contributions during the early days of the uprising, including donating her jewelry to aid her people. The Ministry of Culture is preparing for the concert and will provide support for Nasri's new album, which explores themes of longing, joy, and hope for the return of displaced Syrians.

Through the concert and album, Nasri will offer a comprehensive journey into Syrian culture and heritage, encompassing various dialects, traditional practices, and classic musical styles.
