Arab League chief condemns Israeli calls for displacement of Palestinians

Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy has strongly denounced Israeli ministers' proposals to force Palestinians out of Gaza. Fahmy emphasized that these remarks hinder peace-building efforts, end the Gaza conflict, and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis caused by Israel's recent escalations in the territory. He firmly stated that any discourse on displacing Palestinians is completely unacceptable and constitutes a direct breach of both international and humanitarian laws.

Fahmy highlighted that these statements, during a time of Palestinian suffering in Gaza and Israel's disregard for internationally backed peace proposals, indicate a deliberate intent by the occupying force to complicate matters, endanger regional stability, and divert attention from the genuine obstacles to peace. He reasserted his support for the Palestinians' resilience on their land, stressing that discussions about Gaza's geography or demographics are inherently linked to the broader goal of creating an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, including East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with pertinent international resolutions.

Fahmy cautioned that such statements pose significant threats to peace and regional stability, representing part of Israel's persistent escalation aimed at achieving narrow political objectives. He urged the global community and relevant institutions to address these remarks promptly and fulfill their duty to prevent any actions that could alter the current situation or infringe upon the Palestinian people's fundamental rights.
