Appeal as hunt for alleged axe attacker enters new day

A man named Peter O Ryan, 48, is wanted by police after allegedly attacking his brother and parents with an axe or tomahawk at their home in Tyers, Gippsland. The incident allegedly occurred around 12:30pm on Saturday, following an argument. O Ryan's father and 47-year-old brother, as well as his 74-year-old mother, all suffered life-threatening and critical injuries and are currently in critical condition.

His mother has since been able to provide limited information. Police have released images of O Ryan, describing him as Caucasian, of medium build with dark grey hair, and noted that he had been seen wearing a black and mustard colored jacket and carrying a black backpack. He is known to frequent the Morwell area and has been seen taking refuge in abandoned properties.

The public is warned not to approach O Ryan and to call triple zero if they see him. Police have directly appealed to O Ryan to turn himself in, emphasizing that it would be in his and the public's best interests.
