APM Accuses Tinubu’s Govt of Failing to Secure Nigeria, Claims Over 600,000 Nigerians Killed Since 2023

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has harshly criticized President Bola Tinubu's administration for their failure to address the worsening security situation in Nigeria. The party asserts that President Tinubu's government is downplaying the severity of the crisis, despite the country being ranked as the fourth most insecure nation in the world according to the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) 2026.

APM's National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubukar, rebuked Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retired), for claiming that security in the nation had improved under Tinubu's leadership. Abubukar expressed deep disappointment in Musa's statements, pointing out that millions of Nigerians continue to suffer from killings, kidnappings, displacements, and terrorization.

The APM argues that the official data and reports from credible international organizations indicate that Nigeria's insecurity ranking has actually risen two places, from 6th place in the 2025 index. The party's statement highlights the alleged neglect of the anguish faced by families across the country, as over 600,000 Nigerians have been killed and more than 2.2 million others abducted since 2023.

Recently, 600 people, mostly women, children, and the elderly, were abducted from villages in Niger State, still held captive. The APM claims that Nigeria's kidnapping industry has flourished under Tinubu's presidency, with over N7.78 billion paid in ransom from July 2025 to June 2026. The party calls for a challenge to the administration to demonstrate their commitment to security by traveling without armed protection, as is the case for ordinary citizens.

APM believes that the ongoing insecurity is due to the administration's inability to create a comprehensive plan to tackle the issue, and warns that Nigeria cannot endure another four years of this hopeless and ineffective governance.
