Abdelatty invites Dar to undertake bilateral visit to Egypt

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has invited Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to undertake a bilateral visit to Egypt at his earliest convenience, according to a statement from the Foreign Office. During a recent telephone call, the two leaders discussed Egypt-Pakistan bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.

Abdelatty also reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to staying engaged and involved in regional security matters, agreeing to meet with Dar off the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly. In November, Abdelatty visited Pakistan at the invitation of then Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, where they discussed defence and security cooperation, military exchanges, training collaborations, and regional peace and stability.

Dar met with Egyptian President Asif Ali Zardari, expressing Egypt's interest in expanding its partnership in various fields. During a press conference, Dar stated that the two nations have a strong business-to-business relationship worth around $300 million, and Pakistan will share a list of 250 Pakistani businesses representing key sectors of the economy with Egypt.

Pakistan and Egypt have also agreed to enhance cooperation between their interior ministries and launch joint training programs for police officers. The two countries are members of the R-4 Group, a regional alliance that also includes Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, focused on regional security since its formation in March.
