1,744 booked for drunk driving in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Future City

Over the past week, 744 motorists were arrested for drunk driving across Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Future City, according to special enforcement drives conducted by the respective traffic police departments. In Hyderabad, 341 drivers were caught during a two-day crackdown on September 4 and 5. Cyberabad saw 329 offenders apprehended during a weekend drive. Future City authorities arrested 74 people for drunk driving between August 29 and September 4.

In addition to these arrests, courts in Cyberabad disposed of 213 drunk driving cases between August 31 and September 5. Fifteen individuals were sentenced to a combination of fine and imprisonment, while one was fined and ordered to perform social service. The remaining 197 offenders were solely fined. In Future City, the courts dealt with 41 drunk driving cases during the same period, imposing sentences of fines and social service to four respondents and fines to 37.

The enforcement efforts have led to significant penalties for those found guilty of drunk driving. In Future City alone, 41 cases were resolved by the courts, with some offenders facing fines and social service requirements, while others were solely fined.
