YEDI Empowers 150 Youths on Digital, Software Skills

The Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative (YEDI) recently concluded an eight-day summer camp in Lagos, empowering approximately 150 youths with both digital and soft skills. Programme Manager Olasode Abiola emphasized that the initiative serves as an annual event, aiming to assist participants in making informed decisions about their futures.

Abiola stated, "YEDI is driving towards a future that is whole, where these 150 youths trained on coding and Adire textile design making can independently make decisions for themselves."

Monica Affia, Founder of Mo Glam Concepts, spoke at the event, noting that their facilitation of Adire making is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at providing youths with valuable skills to improve their livelihoods. The NGO received praise from 13-year-old Ojoye Samuel Akorede, who aspires to become a surgeon.

Akorede highlighted that the program exposed him to the importance of teamwork, a crucial skill in the surgical room. The young participant from Abeokuta North, who is about to enter SS1 in the upcoming academic session, called for more corporate organizations to engage in rural development efforts.
