UAE recalls 5,612 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles over fire risk

Dubai, UAE: Over 5,600 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles are being recalled due to a potential electrical fault that could lead to a loss of power-steering assistance and, in some cases, an increased risk of fire. Trading Enterprises, the official Jeep dealer in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, is collaborating with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism’s consumer protection authorities to execute the safety recall. The campaign is expected to encompass 5,612 vehicles from the 2021 to 2025 model years.

The recall focuses on the electrical connection to the electro-hydraulic power steering pump, or EHPSP. In certain vehicles, this connection may develop heightened electrical resistance. Drivers may experience a loss of power-steering assistance or encounter a “Service Power Steering” warning on the dashboard, along with a diagnostic fault code related to the steering system.

In certain instances, excessive electrical resistance near the pump connection could generate sufficient heat to impact nearby flammable materials, potentially leading to a fire and elevating the risk of injury to occupants.

Jeep's official recall system independently lists a recall covering 2021-2025 Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles involving the electro-hydraulic power steering pump. Trading Enterprises will reach out to affected customers, inviting them to bring their vehicles to authorised service centres for free inspections and repairs. These inspections encompass examining the electrical connections and wiring, and they include replacing affected components, such as the electro-hydraulic power steering pump. According to the recall notice, all inspections and repairs will be executed at no cost.
