U-20 WWC: Don’t be intimidated by any opponent – Kofi Adams tells Black Princesses

Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has encouraged the Black Princesses to enter the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup without fear. He visited the team’s training camp ahead of their Group D opener against Ecuador on September 6th. The minister praised the Black Princesses for making it to this tournament for an eighth consecutive time and promised President John Dramani Mahama’s backing.

“His Majesty John Mahama is aware of the challenge you face,” Adams informed the players, vouching for the president’s keen interest in their progress. He hailed the Black Princesses as one of Ghana’s most reliable national teams in international football. Adams urged the players to have faith in their skills and maintain unity throughout the competition.

He warned them not to be intimidated by any opponent, emphasizing that those teams do not play better than they do. Teamwork, according to the minister, would be the crucial factor for their success. Kofi Adams also indicated that he would be present in the stands to cheer on the team during their opening match. The Black Princesses will face Ecuador, the Dominican Republic and France in their subsequent group matches. This is the country’s first appearance in the knockout stages of the U-20 Women’s World Cup.
