Two lorry station masters arrested over alleged plot to kill creditor over ₵91k debt

Two Ashaley Botwe lorry station masters, Abubakari Ateni and Eric Tetteh, have been apprehended by the Madina Divisional Police Command for allegedly plotting to murder a woman over a debt of GH₵91,810. The suspects, aged 44 and 45 respectively, are accused of planning the crime after the woman demanded repayment of the owed money.

Madina Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Dr. Aba Afari, stated that the alleged plot arose from a misunderstanding between the woman and Abubakari regarding the debt. The two, who were also in a position of trust as the woman's errands driver and former station master, allegedly devised a plan to kill her to evade embarrassment over the debt.

Initially, they planned for Abubakari to strangle the woman, but later hired a serial killer to carry out the deed. The suspects reportedly paid ₵2,000 to the hired killer upfront, with a promise of ₵3,000 upon completion. The plan was to stage a robbery, with the hired assailant shooting and killing the woman while Abubakari was driving her home.

The issue took a turn when it was discovered that the serial killer was a community volunteer and collaborator with the Madina police. Police arrested the suspects on Thursday, 2nd September, as they were about to execute their murderous plan. Dr. Afari assured residents of Madina that the Police Command is committed to protecting lives and property, commending officers involved in uncovering and thwarting the alleged murder plot. The suspects are currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
