Three passengers die, 10 others injured in Ogun multiple road crash

In a tragic multiple road crash on the Lagos–Ibadan expressway, near Long Bridge in Ogun State, three female passengers lost their lives while ten others sustained severe injuries. The incident occurred around 5:10pm on Friday, involving a white Mazda bus, a white Toyota bus, and a white Toyota Corolla car, each bearing distinctive registration numbers.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State Sector Command received the distress call at 5:34pm, and their rescue team arrived at the scene six minutes later. According to Afolabi Odunsi, the PRO of the FRSC Ogun State, a total of 16 individuals were involved in the crash, comprising 12 males and 4 females. Among the injured, nine males and one female sustained injuries.

The preliminary assessment points to possible speeding violations (SPV) and loss of control (LOC) as the probable causes of the accident. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances of the incident. FRSC operatives immediately initiated rescue operations and traffic management at the crash site. The crashed vehicles have since been handed over to the MTD Police, Warewa, for further examination.

Injured victims were evacuated to AZ Hospital in Magboro and the Accident and Emergency Centre in Ojota for urgent medical care. The bodies of the deceased were transported to Ifo Morgue and Idera Morgue, Sagamu, by the Ogun State Ambulance Service and FRSC personnel. Sector Commander Oludare Ogunjobi expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and urged motorists to exercise utmost caution while traversing the Lagos–Ibadan expressway.
