Three-month hunt in Pir Panjal ends with killing of LeT terrorist wanted in 19 security personnel deaths

A joint operation spanning three to four months, involving police and security forces, uncovered two Pakistani Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists hiding in the dense forests south of the Pir Panjal range in Poonch district. The targeted terrorists, Yasir and Asif Fouji alias Moosa, had been responsible for a series of deadly attacks against army and security personnel between 2021 and 2024.

Yasir was killed in Yusmarg, Central Kashmir, on Friday, while Asif Fouji remains at large. The terrorists' movements had gone undetected for months due to their success in evading capture and their ability to blend in with local populations. The hunt began following intelligence and technical surveillance, leading to their capture in the high-altitude Loran forests near the Yusmarg border.
