TCS HyperVault bets ₹70,000 cr on Hyderabad AI hub

TCS's subsidiary HyperVault has unveiled plans to construct a vast 1 GW AI data centre campus in Hyderabad, representing one of India's most significant planned investments in AI infrastructure. The project, requiring an investment of Rs 70,000 crore, will occupy 264 acres of land within Hyderabad's Future City, catering to frontier AI companies and hyperscalers with high-density GPU deployments for AI training, inference, and advanced computing workloads.

HyperVault's development will unfold in stages, contingent on customer demand and technological needs.

The completed campus aims to be among India's largest and most advanced AI infrastructure facilities, featuring liquid-cooled compute infrastructure, green energy, and water-neutral design principles. This initiative is projected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs while stimulating demand in various sectors, including power, cooling, networking, construction, engineering, and data centre operations.

TCS CEO and MD K Krithivasan highlighted that this project aligns with the company's "Infrastructure-to-Intelligence" strategy, integrating AI-ready infrastructure with its cloud, engineering, enterprise transformation, and AI capabilities. Krithivasan emphasized that Hyderabad's scale, talent pool, and ecosystem make it an ideal location to serve global customers.

Addressing the media, Krithivasan stated that the data centre is expected to become operational within 18-24 months of breaking ground. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy proposed inaugurating the data centre on June 2, 2028, assuring that all necessary approvals will be granted to expedite the process. This announcement follows a conversation between Reddy and Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran at the Davos forum in January, as confirmed by Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu.

The project is part of Telangana's broader strategy to establish the state as a strategic hub for AI and advanced digital infrastructure.
