Stray dogs rescue woman from sexual assault in Coimbatore; accused apprehended

In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, a group of stray dogs came to the rescue of a woman who was allegedly being sexually assaulted by a minor. According to reports, the incident occurred early Friday morning when the woman, who is mentally challenged and often found near the roadside, was sitting close to a pack of stray dogs. Police suspect the boy was under the influence of alcohol when he approached the woman.

CCTV footage showed the minor attempting to drive the dogs away by throwing a stone, causing them to move away. However, one dog remained close to the woman while the others stayed farther away. The boy then allegedly tried to sexually assault the woman, causing her to scream in fear. When she began screaming, one of the dogs suddenly moved towards the boy and attacked him, biting his legs and pulling him away from the woman.

The other dogs reacted to the commotion as well. The boy eventually fled the scene, leaving the alleged assault behind. The dog that intervened chased the boy for some distance down the road, with the entire incident captured on CCTV. The police discovered the footage while reviewing recordings for a different case, which helped them identify the minor.
