Road works worth ₹15.71 crore progressing rapidly in Ponnur constituency: Pemmasani

The Union and State governments are supporting a series of road development projects in Ponnur constituency that are estimated to cost ₹15.71 crore, according to Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar. The rapid progress of these works was highlighted by Mr. Chandra Sekhar on Saturday, as he announced that the government would be bringing in several crores of rupees in development funds specifically for the constituency.

Out of an annual MP fund of ₹5 crore, ₹2 crore has been earmarked for Ponnur. Central funds have been secured for bridge projects in Guntur, while Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has been cooperating in the development of several tanks. Mr. Chandra Sekhar, along with Ponnur MLA Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar, recently inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for road works in various mandals within the constituency, including Kopparavuru and Anumarlapudi in Pedakakani, Sekuru and Thotlapalem in Chebrolu, and Doppalapudi and Jadavalli in Ponnur.

Issues relating to 22A lands, which had been causing inconvenience to villagers, are also being resolved. Additionally, efforts are being made to streamline fertilizer distribution through technology and an OTP-based system to avoid artificial shortages. Mr. Narendra Kumar, the MLA, acknowledged that the road works faced delays due to their considerable expenditure and the need for various formalities.

However, he assured the public that repairs to a bridge damaged in an accident would be completed within a month and that construction of a new bridge would also be expedited.
