PVR INOX executive shown door in April

In April, PVR INOX, India's largest film exhibitor, dismissed a senior executive named Pramod Arora following an internal probe into allegations of kickbacks from developers involved in building cinema properties. The alleged kickbacks, spanning several years, could potentially total ₹200 crore, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The investigation targeted a senior executive close to the company's promoters, prompting concerns about the duration of the payments and whether others were aware of the malpractices. The executives mentioned, Ajay and Sanjeev Bijli, are the co-promoters of PVR INOX since the merger of PVR and INOX in February 2023. Arora served as the Chief Executive Officer for growth and investment at PVR INOX. The board has discussed the matter during recent meetings.
