Punjab Becomes First Province to Launch AI Hub for Security

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Center (PIFTAC) and launched the AI Hub Punjab, marking Punjab as the first province in Pakistan to establish an Artificial Intelligence Hub. The AI-enabled system will issue digital alerts to district coordination committees, enabling authorities to identify potential security threats before they escalate into major incidents.

The government has successfully implemented this technology within a short timeframe, highlighting their achievement. Maryam Nawaz emphasized that crime in Punjab had decreased by up to 70%, and the government has shifted focus towards prevention rather than reacting to incidents. Security agencies have collaborated to enhance coordination and respond more swiftly to emerging challenges, including threats from the tri-border region and neighboring provinces.

The AI Hub is part of a broader strategy to bolster security, improve infrastructure, and promote a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. The government has also demonstrated resilience during adverse situations, such as heavy rain, by swiftly addressing infrastructure challenges.
