Pune Police Book JW Marriott & Sheraton Grand Over Delayed Foreign Guest Information

Pune Police have filed charges against JW Marriott Hotel Pune and Sheraton Grand Pune for allegedly providing delayed information about foreign guests staying at their properties. The investigation is part of a city-wide effort to ensure timely submission of details of foreign nationals and other guests to the police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Prashant Amritkar had mandated establishments to promptly report such information.

In the case of JW Marriott, Italian national Christian Huber arrived on June 7, 2026. However, the hotel management did not submit his arrival details to the police until July 17, resulting in a 39-day and 11-hour (947-hour) delay, according to the police. Meanwhile, a Chinese national, Qi Luo, checked into Sheraton Grand Pune on June 14. The hotel only submitted his details on June 28, around 9.15 pm, a delay of 14 days and one hour (337 hours).

The police allege that these delays constitute a violation of the mandatory reporting requirements for foreign nationals. The cases are being investigated by the Chaturshringi and Bundgarden police under the supervision of DCP Prashant Amritkar.
