Emerging photographer Phoebe Locke has big dreams of working on Calvin Klein campaigns, having recently photographed models from the Fall 2025 collection on the streets of New York. In an interview with Associated Press, Phoebe discusses her journey into fashion photography, her inspirations, and her current work.

Phoebe's love for photography started as a hobby but quickly evolved into a passion. She never had a specific moment of deciding to become a photographer, but rather found herself naturally talented at it. Her interest in fashion photography was sparked during a university project, where she became obsessed with the 90s supermodel era and George Michael's "Freedom! '90" music video. This led her to understand the deeper meaning behind fashion photography and its impact on storytelling.

Phoebe pursued her passion by studying Photography at both GCSE and A-level before attending Birmingham City University. She graduated with a First Class degree in Photography, which significantly developed her skills. Her recent work focuses on movies and storytelling, with a strong emphasis on narrative and atmosphere in her editorial projects. She incorporates Polaroid photography into her process, capturing intimate and honest images that complement her final photographs.

Despite her success, Phoebe acknowledges the challenge of getting her work recognized and reaching potential clients. She emphasizes the importance of actively seeking opportunities rather than waiting for them to come her way. Phoebe cites photographers like Mert & Marcus, Ellen von Unwerth, Sam Spence, and Alessio Albi as her biggest inspirations. She also draws inspiration from film, music, and fashion, with Gordon von Steiner being one of her favorite fashion film directors.
