Pas-Umno ummah unity must move beyond resolutions, says Tuan Ibrahim

KOTA BARU: The unity between the Islamist party Pas and Umno, unanimously endorsed at the party's muktamar, must go beyond just resolutions, according to Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man. Tuan Ibrahim stressed that support for the unity must be put to the test during negotiations on seat allocations for the general election.

He emphasized that any decisions made must adhere to the principles of wala and thiqah, which entail loyalty and trust in the party's decisions. The muktamar unanimously approved the strengthening of ummah unity, but Tuan Ibrahim reminded everyone that this unanimous decision would be put to the test by Allah after the elections.

During negotiations, he said, any seat allocations reached must be upheld based on wala and thiqah. Tuan Ibrahim also highlighted the importance of the Muslim Unity Committee and Seat Negotiation Committee as key components in driving the ummah unity resolution forward. He stated that the ummah unity resolution should be executed by a committee that will serve as an agent for the agenda and decisions.

Furthermore, in the context of elections, the Seat Negotiation Committee is appointed by the party to consider the overall picture, not just the seats won. Tuan Ibrahim reiterated that won seats will remain with the party that secured them, and Pas will defend those seats it has won.
