Osinbajo, Archbishop Martins, Avuru, Amangbo for Cardinal Okogie Foundation Lecture

The 17th Annual Lecture of the Anthony Cardinal Okogie Foundation, set to take place on October 8, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Lagos, is expected to gather a diverse assembly of influential figures from various fields. Among them are former Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who will deliver the keynote address on the theme 'Rule of Law in Nigeria: Challenges of Leadership Compliance'.

Engr. Austin Avuru, a prominent figure in business and former CEO of Seplat Petroleum, will chair the event. Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins, the Bishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos, will serve as the chief host. Sir Peter Amangbo, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation and CEO of Globus Bank Limited, will also be in attendance, along with members of the clergy, religious, business leaders, philanthropists, students, and other invited guests.

The primary objective of the lecture is to raise funds for scholarships and educational support for underprivileged children, regardless of their religious affiliations. Over the past 17 years, the lecture series, organized under the auspices of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, has provided assistance to over 160 deserving young Nigerians.

This year's lecture is particularly significant, as it aligns with the celebration of Cardinal Okogie's 90th birthday, 60th anniversary of priestly ordination, and 55th anniversary of episcopal ordination. The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Joseph Alegbesogie, assured that all necessary preparations are underway to ensure a successful event, emphasizing the importance of mobilizing greater support for the education of brilliant but indigent children.
