Ops Vulture arrests two in Teluk Intan, police seize five ATM cards, gold jewellery

Yesterday, police in Teluk Intan made arrests related to unlicensed money-lending and possession of unauthorized ATM cards, as part of Operation Vulture. The operation was conducted by the Hilir Perak police's Commercial Crime Investigation Division. ACP Chua Kok Lian, the Hilir Perak police chief, provided details of the arrests.

The first arrest took place at a Maybank ATM in Teluk Intan. A man was caught while attempting to make a cash withdrawal. During this process, two ATM cards belonging to others and RM300 in cash were discovered on him. Following the information provided by the suspect, the police conducted a raid at a money-lending establishment on Jalan Ah Cheong, Teluk Intan, resulting in the arrest of a second individual.

At the second location, police found three additional ATM cards and several pieces of gold jewelry. The estimated value of the seized items was RM2,050. Both suspects are currently in custody at the Hilir Perak District Police Headquarters and have been remanded until September 6 to further assist in the investigation. The case is being investigated under Sections 420 and 424 of the Penal Code.

ACP Chua Kok Lian warned the public against lending their ATM cards or allowing others to use them, even when offered rewards. He advised against engaging in any suspicious dealings involving bank accounts or ATM cards, whether personal or belonging to others. He emphasized that misusing accounts and banking facilities for criminal activities will result in severe legal consequences.
