Need good working ties with India: Bangladesh

DHAKA, Bangladesh is eager to forge a strong working relationship with its neighbor, India, despite current tensions, according to state minister for foreign affairs Humayun Kobir. The minister made these remarks on Saturday, calling for continued dialogue with New Delhi. The strained ties between the two nations stem from issues such as former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's extradition and Bangladesh's increasing cooperation with China and Pakistan.

Kobir emphasized that foreign, economic, and security cooperation and policies are interconnected and must be integrated and complementary to each other. He stressed that foreign policy is not limited to foreign relations, but includes a robust area of engagement for economic cooperation. Kobir affirmed that the door for dialogue will always remain open, despite thousands of problems and challenges with India. He urged the media to keep this dialogue and discussion channel active.
