Navy uncovers 10,000 litres of suspected stolen crude in Delta

The Nigerian Navy has uncovered 10,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil in the coastal community of Otegele, situated in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. This discovery was made early Saturday morning during an operation aimed at combating crude oil theft. The Navy's statement emphasized that the operation was initiated following credible intelligence reports about illicit petroleum activities in the area.

Commodore Shehu Tasiu, the officer in command of the Navy's response, explained that the operation was carried out in accordance with directives from the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas. He stressed that the mission was aimed at safeguarding critical national infrastructures within Nigerian territorial waters from criminal operations. Tasiu underscored that the seized crude oil would not be used for illicit activities due to proper handling procedures, thus preventing further exploitation.
