Navi Mumbai Shocker: 56-Year-Old ASI Dies By Suicide; Note, Video Alleging Harassment By Police Personnel Under Probe

Navi Mumbai police officer Pandurang Patil, 56, allegedly took his own life by hanging at a lodge in Mahape on Saturday evening. The incident has raised concerns and an investigation has been launched by the Rabale MIDC police station.

Patil's suicide note and a video posted on social media prior to his death reportedly accused two senior police officers, including a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), as well as a head clerk, for alleged harassment. The note, which is eight pages long, detailed the officer's experiences with the mentioned individuals.

The exact circumstances surrounding the officer's death are still under investigation, with the police yet to verify the allegations made in his suicide note. Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe stated that the suicide note and video will be crucial to understanding the events leading to Patil's death and to verifying the claims against the named police personnel.

Patil was only recently assigned to the Special Branch in May, previously having worked at the Control Room. The police are searching for the suicide note as part of their ongoing inquiry into the case.
